The amount of stuff in the box is impressive. If you have hard floors there are little rubber feet. If you have carpeting, metal spikes are included. There is also a bunch of hardware so that many brands of speakers can be used. You can hang them by the keyhole, some other mount on the speaker or use a flat base and simply set the speaker on top. My Energy Take 5 Classics were a little weird so I had to improvise, which wasnt much of an issue because I didn't have to use anything other than what came with the stands. If your speakers are taller than the Energy Classics, you will either have to set them on the flat base or rig something else up.
I read reviews saying that the adjustment knob broke easily. I really don't know how they did it and how hard they turned the thing because it seems pretty uder friendly. Sure, its plastic but you don't have to crank it down that hard as the speakers only weigh a few pounds. The knobs only need to be tightened until resistence is felt, and your speakers don't fall, of course.
If I had one complaint it would be that running speaker wire through the pole was a little bit of an ordeal. I used 14ga wire and it was a VERY tight fit. There is no way that you could get 14ga through there. I like how there is a little notch in the back of the base for the wire. Its little touches like this that make this a good purchase. A saw the same thing at Best Buy for over twice the money.

Cable heads do not fit in the insert holes, so I've coiled them around on the outside. Overall, a sleek pair of stands.
But all in all, the stands are sturdy, easy to assemble and very stable with my speaker set, they do a fine job.
